CHURCH THANKSGIVING SERVICE ON BEHALF OF CHELSEA FC TRIUMPH

CHURCH THANKSGIVING SERVICE ON BEHALF OF CHELSEA FC TRIUMPH

'Chelsea, by the Grace of God, came first!' Church celebrates Chelsea Premiership win

A church in Ghana's has held a thanks-giving service for Chelsea football club following the recent Premiership success of the side, which is hugely popular in the country.
Pastor Azigiza, a long-time Chelsea fan, encouraged people at the Living Streams International Church in Ghana's capital, Accra, to come wearing the football shirts of their favourite team.
Standing behind a cake on a stage made to look like a football pitch, he said: 'Chelsea, by the grace of God, came first.'
Azigiza told the BBC he wanted to use the power of football to talk about God.

And he also led the congregation in a verse of the Chelsea anthem Blue is the Colour.

The pastor, who was once a radio DJ, teased his immediate boss at the church, Pastor Ebenezer Markwei, who is an Arsenal fan.
In his sermon, Pastor Markwei talked about 'the good, the bad and the ugly of rivalry'.
He said there was fellowship to be found in rejoicing in the success of others, so others will do the same towards you.

Azigiza thanked God for Arsenal's recent 2-1 victory over Chelsea in the FA Cup Final, 'because it means that [Arsenal manager] Arsene Wenger will stay' in his post, and Arsenal cannot win the league with him.
Azigiza told the BBC that he wanted to defuse rivalry between supporters of different clubs, and supporters of any side were welcome at the service.
Chelsea won the Premier League in May having notched up 93 points, seven ahead of their nearest rivals, Tottenham.
Like many other parts of the world, the English Premier League has a large and passionate following in Ghana.
Research carried out in 2015 by Twitter suggested that Chelsea was the most popular side in Ghana as well as much of the rest of West Africa.

Cigarette companies lose final legal challenge over plain packaging

Cigarette companies lose final legal challenge over plain packaging

All cigarettes sold in the UK must have standardised packaging from next month after the Supreme Court refused the tobacco industry permission to appeal against the new laws.

Campaigners said the ruling puts paid to “Big Tobacco’s” attempts to overturn the law before it comes into force on 20 May.

“Smoking is the biggest preventable killer in this country and after years of hard work, I look forward to seeing this policy now brought in, and smoking numbers fall even further.”

Professor Dame Sally Davies, Chief Medical Officer

British American Tobacco, Imperial Brands, Japan Tobacco International (JTI) and Philip Morris International claimed that the law would infringe their human and intellectual property rights.

New EU rules will mean cigarettes packs must be sold in drab dark brown packs with no graphic branding. Companies have been allowed to phase out their remaining branded packs since last year.

IN NIGERIA WE DONT HAVE POLICY - Kanayo Firms

IN NIGERIA WE DONT HAVE POLICY - Kanayo Firms

I need to say this quickly and brief: Presently in Nigeria, we don't have a policy.
At #500 to $1 exchange rate in the parallel market, we are not supposed to be protesting, except you have so ran out of ideas that you don't know what to do with your time.
At this rate, we are supposed to experience an influx of FDI in the key sectors of our economy. Say in Real Estate, Capital Market, Local manufacturing industries, Pharmaceuticals and Chemicals industry because the cost of oil is way below $100.
So when you have foreigners dumping money here because the exchange rate favours them, more jobs will be created and businesses will start experiencing a quantum leap. But the reverse is the case. Our Tax policy is counterproductive. It doesn't encourage business growth in these key sectors.
Another sector that comes to one's mind is the SME's which is the largest employer of labour in Nigeria.

Yet in every state, the SME's hardly receive any form of government support in form of grants and soft loans, rather they are taxed to death. The recent tax policy in some States are structured in a way that SME's hardly grow or survive beyond 5 years.
Recently, given the reduction in Federal allocation to States, some States have gone totally berserk on SME's to milk them till death. Levying uncountable taxes on the SME's. This is counterproductive.

FYIWe have to reframe the argument for our next political debates. We need tax holidays for SMEs'. Already we don't have a conducive environment for businesses to thrive; no steady power supply, few access roads, high cost of petrol and diesel etc, and yet we pay tax to the government that haven't completed a single project since inception. This is horrible and pathetic. So before you rush out to go and protest against bad policies, know that we don't have a policy at all. Gracias Amigo.

Nollywood has been hijacked by money bags — Joy Kingsley

Nollywood has been hijacked by money bags — Joy Kingsley

Joy Kingsley
Rising actress cum producer, Chukwurah Joy Favour popularly known as Joy Kingsley is currently disturbed as she has accused ‘money bags’ and quack producers, of hijacking the nation’s movie industry.Joy made this allegation against the backdrop of the prevailing trend in the industry, where the budding actors and actresses are indiscriminately compelled to pay for movie roles by the shylock producers. This ugly development, according to the actress, informed her decision to go into film production to encourage and discover fresh talents. She described the practice as “unethical”adding that it would in no small measure deprive the industry of great potentials in the future, as those who are highly talented but cannot afford to pay their way through, would be deprived of the opportunity to hit the limelight. To match her words with action, Joy who recently moved into her Lekki home after she bought herself a brand new car, is due to premiere her debut movie as a producer.

President Donald Trump is expected to sign an executive order this week that could restrict people from seven, predominantly Muslim countries from entering the US. It comes after the Republican pledged during his election campaign to temporarily ban Muslims from entering the nation. He later said migrants from certain countries that pose a threat would have to undergo “extreme vetting”. The order to temporarily suspend visas for citizens from Syria, Iraq, Iran, Yemen, Libya, Somalia and Sudan is expected to be signed at some point this week, according to aides who have been briefed. After visa suspension, vetting process begins The majority of the seven countries have a high level of displaced people as a result of conflict. It is thought that President Trump will also propose to temporarily ban refugees from entering the US. Religious minorities escaping persecution will not face the restriction, it has been reported.

Italian police on Wednesday arrested four men accused of being the leaders of a human trafficking ring which smuggled people from Africa to Europe and forced women into the sex trade upon arrival in Italy.
Another two men were arrested on suspicion of financially supporting the network and selling illegal drugs.
The group, which was headquartered in Padua in northern Italy, had accomplices in Nigeria, Libya and Sicily.
Police said the network ran an “extremely lucrative” operation.
Telephone conversations between ring members and traffickers in Libya revealed large numbers of people hoping to be taken across the sea to Europe are being held captive near the Libyan capital Tripoli in appalling conditions.
“They are massed together to wait in captivity as price negotiations are completed and the payment is made (for the boat journey), during which time they are subjected to all types of abuse, from starvation to beatings to sexual assault,” the police said in a statement.
Police said it began investigating the suspects in June after a Nigerian girl, a minor, informed officers that she had been smuggled to Italy and upon arrival was held captive and forced into prostitution.
She had been held by the ring near the Sicilian city of Ragusa.

Among the record 181,000 all the migrants who reached Italy by boat last year, more than a fifth were Nigerian.  A half-million migrants have arrived on Italians shores since the start of 2014.

Humanitarian groups say the number of illegal migrants being forced into prostitution in Italy is rising.

TRUMP, BUHARI AND GOODLUCK JONATHAN - Kanayo Firms

Kanayo Firms
TRUMP, BUHARI AND GOODLUCK JONATHAN

Kanayo Firms is A Political analyst and A human development agent. His desperation to see corruption end in this country has led him into speaking to the public, with the aim to change the mindset of people who have been living in darkness and deception to understand that current Government is actually acting contrary to what they promised in the name CHANGE

Read what he has to say about TRUMP, GEJ & BUHARI

Going by the news that Trump snubbed Buhari to invite GEJ to his inauguration; I'm beginning to worry that the existence of Nigeria will once again depend on the choices of GEJ.

If GEJ decides to go Machiavellian and usurp power from Buhari, going by the nefarious acts of Fulani herdsmen, the religious cleansing in Southern Kaduna, and the insensitivity of the government towards Biafra, then we have something to worry about.

Don't forget that GEJ's government developed alliance with the Russians in the wake of his fight against Boko Haram. We all know what Russia is to America in a Trump's Presidency.

You've Got a Date But Dont Know What to Wear

You've Got a Date But Don't Know What to Wear

A date is exciting. But one of the biggest issues for a date is deciding on what to wear. Getting the right dress for a date can put a lot of pressure on you. Here are some tips to help you decide how to dress well as to make up fro different type of dates.

Black is the easiest and safest of all colours, and this season we have a lot of colour to experiment such as OLIVE GREEN, PINK, SEDUCTIVE PURPLE and GREY/HARSH.
Patent is the finish touch that needs to take the center stage, so keep the rest of your outfit simple. It pulls an outfit together in a way that makes it look effortlessly stylish and very classy.

Considering wearing something a little more casual. Often time’s day-time dates are meant to alleviate some degree of anxiety. I recommend a subtle bag with jeans and shirt dress or a cute skirt with a nice top as well as some accessories to top it up. For a date that involves lots of walking, go for flat shoes that will keep your feet snug when walking long distances. Light make will do.

Oil palm is one of the most widely used resource. We consume it from day to day without even knowing it. In our cookies, detergents, soap, body cream and Lotions, Ice cream, shampoo, margarine, lips stick etc.
West Africa used to be the Centre of oil palm industry. The export of Oil palm kernels began in 1832, and by 1911 under the British West Africa alone exported  157,000 tones of which 75% came from Nigeria. In the 1870s, British administrators took the plant to Malaysia and in 1934 d country surpassed Nigeria as the largest exporter of palm Oil. Led by Nigeria and Zaire africa continued to lead the world in production and exportation of palm Oil through out the 1st half of the 20th century, then by 1966, Malaysia and Indonesia exceeded Africa's total palm oil production.

As at the early 1960s, Nigeria palm oil production accounted to 43% of the world production; attributed to the massive contribution of the then  Eastern Region parts of Nigeria. In many of our local communities those days, local Palm oil mill could be seen owned and manned by private individuals..and some times the local government. But today oil palm production is accounted to 7% globally. The production of oil palm became like a tradition/culture passed down from predecessors to their descendants. A treasure passed down from our ancestors but nowadays this treasure is being neglected, despised and being left to diminish. Oil palm is a treasure in the East that ought to be excavated and utilized towards greater Output.

7- and 12-Year-Old Suicide Bombers Kill Five in Suspected Boko Haram Attack

Nigeria: 7- and 12-Year-Old Suicide Bombers Kill Five in Suspected Boko Haram Attack

Two children, suspected to be 7 and 12 years old and believed to be linked to the Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL) branch Boko Haram, reportedly carried out twin suicide bombings Monday that left at least five people dead and 15 others injured at the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) in the capital of northeastern Nigeria’s Borno State.

Although the ISIS Nigeria-based branch has not officially claimed responsibility for the deadly attack on a mosque and another location within UNIMAID, authorities and some local news outlets note that the incident bears the hallmarks of Boko Haram’s brutality.
“Several times, the Boko Haram terrorists have made attempts to attack the university, but the military repelled them,” notes Nigeria’s Daily Post.
The attack comes after Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari claimed last month that his government had dealt the “final crushing of Boko Haram terrorists in their last enclave in Sambisa Forest,” the group’s primary stronghold that covers states parts of the northeastern states of Borno, Yobe, Gombe, Bauchi, and Kano.
However, Boko Haram-affiliated attacks have reportedly continued. The Nigerian government has repeatedly claimed in the past to have “totally” crushed the terrorist group.

Chelsea defeat isn’t good news for Liverpool

Jan Molby: Why Chelsea defeat isn’t good news for Liverpool

By

Jan Molby has admitted that he is unsure whether Tottenham Hotspur’s 2-0 win against Chelsea is necessarily good news for Liverpool.

The Merseyside outfit are in second place in the Premier League table and five points behind leaders Chelsea after Antonio Conte’s men suffered their first defeat since September after a 13-game winning run.
Dele Alli scored either side of half-time to end Chelsea’s 100 per cent record since a 3-0 loss at Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in their sixth game of the 2016-17 Premier League season.
Tottenham have won their last five top-flight fixtures to hoist Mauricio Pochettino’s men up to third place in the Premier League table and two points adrift of second-placed Liverpool.
Manchester United, meanwhile, have won six Premier League games on the spin to move the Red Devils to within a point of fourth-placed Manchester City ahead of the visit of Liverpool on Sunday 15 January.

John Terry offers thoughts on Instagram about that red card

John Terry offers thoughts on Instagram about that red card

He doesn’t agree

Chelsea captain John Terry saw red during their FA Cup tie with Peterborough, and while manager Antonio Conte made it clear he felt Terry had played well, and did not deserve to be sent off, the player himself waited for a while after the game before speaking out.
The he took to Instagram to offer his thoughts and congratulations to the players who scored during the game, and also to defender Kurt Zouma for playing after such a long time out.

The club will appeal

Terry himself had been injured and out of the side, and has spent the last 11 games on the sidelines – and will be sat in the stands again unless his appeal is successful.Terry posted on his Instagram account to confirm he hopes the FA will have another look at the incident, and seems to feel he was hard done by – as he didn’t touch the Peterborough player in question.

Italian actress who vowed to perform sex act on everyone who voted no in her country's referendum completes first date of tour saying 'I'm a woman of my word'

  • Ms Saulino added: 'This year is started in a best way as possible'

An Italian actress who promised to perform a sex act on everyone who voted no in her country's referendum has completed the first date of her tour.
Paola Saulino, 27, told fans that she was a 'woman of [her] word' after announcing tour dates in 10 Italian cities in December.
She posted a photograph of herself on Instagram on Saturday, along with the caption: 'First step of #pompatour is gone! A little bit tired [but] everthing is okay.'

She initially made the promise to perform a sex act on everyone who voted no in Italy's referendum on November 23, before announcing tour dates in December.
Ms Saulino said she would be visiting Rome, Florence, Bologna, Verona, Milan, Turin, Naples, Bari, Lecce and Palermo this month for the first leg of her tour, urging people to fill in a booking form if they had voted No.

Some have dismissed the tour as a publicity stunt, with several Instagram users asking for 'evidence' that she had kept her promise.
However, others defended the actress and told critics to 'stay quiet' if they didn't know - adding that photographs were not permitted to be shared online.

Italy's Prime Minister Matteo Renzi had called a referendum on constitutional reforms, which became a vote on confidence in his government.
But the move backfired and he resigned shortly after exit

polls in at the start of a December indicated a 'no vote'.

Ms Saulino, whose Instagram page features a number of suggestive shots, said she would be visiting Rome, Florence, Bologna, Verona, Milan, Turin, Naples, Bari, Lecce and Palermo this month for the first leg of her tour

Robot marriage is next after same-sex marriage, say experts

Robot marriage is next after same-sex marriage, say experts

Benjamin Butterworth

Experts are predicting that humans will be able to marry robots by 2050.

David Levy, author of a book on human-robot love, made the prediction at a ‘Love and Sex with Robots’ conference.
It’s claimed that because society used to look at same-sex marriage as unthinkable, which is now legal in some countries, the prospect of robot marriages is now on the cards.
The University of London event predicted that the human-robot marriages will be legal by 2050.
Though it may seem far flung, robots that humans can have sex with have long been in the pipeline.
Now those in the know are predicting that humans will be able to go one step further and invest maritally in their robotic partners.
Adrian Cheok, a computing professor at City University London and director of the Mixed Reality Lab in Singapore, says the prediction is not so unlikely.

Queen attends church after illness

Queen attends church after illness

Sun 08 Jan 2017

By Marcus Jones
The Queen has attended church for the first time in 2017 and the first time since a heavy cold kept her away from services over the festive period.
Dressed in royal blue, the monarch arrived at St Mary Magdalene church, on her Sandringham estate on Sunday, having missed her regular appearances on Christmas Day and New Year's Day because of the lingering respiratory illness.

She fell ill a week before Christmas along with the Duke of Edinburgh. They were forced to delay their journey from Buckingham Palace to their Norfolk estate.

Speaking about the illness, Royal historian Kate Williams said: "She has this incredible health, she barely misses an engagement...she's so strong.
"I think that's why we expect to be this non-stop, super woman, always well.
"The fact that she falls prey to a cold is quite surprising."

These six career resolutions will transform the way you work

These six career resolutions will transform the way you work

INSTEAD OF setting the same vague goals year after year, try these six unexpected career resolutions that experts say could make you happier, more engaged, and even more successful in your work.

Explore how you can make your work more meaningful

We’ve all seen the research about how many people are not engaged in their work or actively hate their jobs. You have a decision to make: You can dive in and decide to make positive changes. Or you can detach from your job emotionally and get your validation elsewhere, says Danielle Harlan, founder and CEO of the Center for Advancing Leadership and Human Potential and author of The New Alpha: Join the Rising Movement of Influencers and Changemakers Who Are Redefining Leadership.
Many people are disenchanted with the state of the world, Harlan says. Think about the changes you need to make to feel more fulfilled overall.
"Think about the organization you’re working with: What do they do, or what does my team do that creates a positive impact in the world? Look for what choices you can make, and actions you can take, that are going to bring you more meaning," she says.
"That may mean making changes in your career to get the fulfillment you’re seeking, or readjusting the rewards you seek from work and other areas of your life."

Embrace the haters
Are there people in your work life you can’t stand? It’s probably hurting you more than it’s hurting them, says former Wall Street analyst Amy Newmark, publisher and editor-in-chief of the popular Chicken Soup for the Soul book series, and author of Simply Happy: A Crash Course in Chicken Soup for the Soul Advice and Wisdom.
Try to let go of the negative emotions and take a more analytical approach, Newmark says. What is the person’s motivation for taking objectionable action? Usually, it’s more about them than about you.
"I realized that almost all the things that have ever been unpleasant—somebody yelling at me or whatever—really weren't about me. I've learned that you shouldn't take these things personally," she says.
You don’t have to be a doormat, but you also don’t have to waste energy on grudges.

Go for what you want before you're ready

Expect more of those around you

Find a taskmaster

Ditch what's holding you back
